Tell all the truth but tell it slant
i lifted the name of this newsletter from one of my favorite emily dickinson poems:
Tell all the truth but tell it slant —
Success in Circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth's superb surprise
As Lightning to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind —
i’m using it somewhat ironically, as emily is arguing for gradual dazzling and the point of this newsletter is to speak more directly and honestly than i can in other places. but *shrugs*.
thanks for coming along on this adventure! it’s a wonderful group—old friends and new, some whose #s i had memorized in the pre-smartphone era, and others who i have yet to meet in person. i hope you’ll have as much fun reading as i plan to have writing.
one of the awesome things about a smaller audience is that things can be more conversational. if you ever have any comments/questions/ideas, for the love of chicken mcnuggets, don’t hold back. just hit reply :)
